Salthouse Heath Trustees
Public Meeting Sunday 28th September 2018
Minutes
In attendance:
Clifford Large
Ed Stocker
Neil Featherstone
Andrew Gray
6 members of the public
Neil reported that the Trustees have been chasing payments from the Rural Payments Authority. It seems that the Agency is in disarray. They had been asked and had provided information 3 times but to date no payments have been received so far.
The agreement is for 5 years tree and scrub removal and was supposed to be paid July/August 2018.
However sheep and goats have been introduced to provide a degree of maintenance but the major clearing works were dependent on the monies coming through.
Two ponds will also be restored using a council specialist.
The barrows and war-time areas will be maintained with the help of an archaeologist .
It is therefore unlikely that any clearing work will begin this season.
There was some discussion about returning to seedbeds centuries back. However the purpose is to return to the seedbed that existed when grazing maintained the heathland.
There will works beginning at 9.00 a.m. on:
Wood will be available at these times.
The next Trustees Public Meeting will be:
27th October 2019 – 6 p.m. in the Village Hall
