SALTHOUSE VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Report for AGM 2015

·      We continue to keep afloat with regular donations from coffee and gossip and art group, occasional rentals , contribution from Bowls Club and rental of car parking. We remain grateful to the church and Parish Council for their donations.

·      Decided not to ban car parking per say due to on going parking problems in the village. Car parking area now defined by some of the village green telegraph poles which is to prevent unwary visitors going down the steep slopes at the edges.

·      Richard Gayfer continues to cut grass but we have to employ someone to do other work eg strimmimg, cutting back the bushes. We would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Richard.

We recently contacted npower as the trees near the front were entangled in the power line . They have done an excellent job in cutting them back.

·      The management committee does Hall cleaning, as we do not earn enough income to justify a regular cleaner. Any volunteers?

·      We have finally bought blinds for the windows and curtains for the stage and now await someone to put them up.

·      The plumbing is to be overhauled this year as we have some problems that need sorting out.  The cost of this work is as yet unknown but will be significant. The plumber has agreed to give us a favourable quotation because it is a charity.

·      Further maintenance work is needed - for example repainting of the entrance hall and toilet area. Any volunteers?

·      Further purchases are required like a new oven and a kitchen sink and this will happen when funds allow. Any sponsors?

·      Some fund raising events are planned and we hope you will support these when they occur.

The management committee at present is as follows :

Sally Cary (Treasurer) (Acting Chairman )

Sarah Dawson (Secretary and Booking Secretary)

Barbara Gibson (Bowls Club Rep)

Sue Johns

Jane Waters

The post of chairman rotates around the committee. This year this will be Sue Johns. We take this opportunity to publicly thank Richard.
